Washer Fluid Tank Sensor Retrofit

For the Base Touran, the windscreen washer reservoir does not have the level sensor fitted at factory.  After the upgrade to the Colour MFD Instrument Cluster, the default setting triggered an error code for the washer tank sensor.

We retrofitted Edmund's car as he had removed his bumper to do the Xenon headlights. Removed the tank and bored a hole for the sensor to be fitted. Lead the wiring loom into the cabin, connected it to the control module and programmed the computer.

Presto, the Washer Reservoir Warning Sensor lights up during initial start up of the car and goes off if the level is sufficient.  It would light up if the water level drops too low.

Base Touran Upgrade : Adaptive Forward-lighting System AFS Xenon Headlights

Upgrade for Touran Base Model : Xenon AFS

This customer upgraded his base halogen headlights with the usual extreme white bulbs which are actually tinted halogen bulbs. This make the light appear whiter but it is actually dimmer as the lights are filtered to change the light spectrum. Then he took the extreme step to convert the bulb to High Intensive Discharge bulbs from China.  These were 6000K bulbs.  However, the glare is terrible. Getting caught by LTA would mean a S$750 fine.

Went for the ultimate upgrade with a step into the Volkswagen original Xenon Adaptive Forward-lighting System (AFS) .....these lights move with the vehicle round corner to throw the lights into the corner according to the vehicle speed and steering wheel turning.  This function can be switched off via the MFD control.

They also have cornering lights which would light up when the steering are turned ( headlights must be switched on ) to light up the path for the driver.  Signalling would also trigger the cornering light to light up in low speed driving...

High and Low beam employ the same Xenon bulb operated via a shutter system.

Base Touran Conversion Cluster to Sport Version Colour MFD Cluster

30 April 2014 : Another Touran Upgrade !

Another Touran uncle upgraded his Comfort Touran with the Colour MFD Cluster. Unfortunately, he had fitted an aftermarket HU. As such, he cannot get to see the Navigation or Radio/Media display on the MFD. He has the original VW TPMS High retrofitted though !

22 April 2014 : Enabling Convenience Menu

Coding of the Central Electric Module, we enabled the base Touran converted colour MFD Cluster to have the Convenience Menu displayed.  Customer is now able to control the Lights Function, Door Unlocking, Wing Mirror lowering, Window Operation, etc.

We converted this Base Touran with a simple On Board Computer White cluster to a colour Multi Function Display (MFD) Instrument Cluster.

Previously, the owner could only view the OBC data ( On Board Computer ) on the screen via the control on the wiper stock.

He upgraded the steering module and steering wheel with Multi-Function Control Switches....and he was able to control the radio stations and volume on the left side switches.

The right side up/down switches could mover the OBC data up and down but cannot show any other screen because of the simple entry level display. The left/right switches were none functioning.

We installed this colour MFD Highline cluster to allow the full viewing of all the display data such as Navigation,  On Board computer data, Vehicle Data, Door Open Status,  Radio and Media.

We can also include information such a Bluetooth Telephone, TPMS High display, Driver Fatigue Detection, etc.

We could also change the language display to Chinese.  Maximum speed limit of the instrument cluster have also been increased from 240 kph to 280 kph. Staging of the needles during initial engine start up is also a default standard. The Red pointer needles are default but an option to have them as Blue is also available.
